  2. 2026-07-24 Saudi Arabia

ZATCA announces e-invoicing Wave 25: SAR 187,500 threshold, integrate by 1 February 2027

Wave 25 of ZATCA Phase 2 covers taxpayers whose VAT-subject revenue exceeded SAR 187,500 in any year 2022-2025, halving Wave 24’s SAR 375,000 threshold. Fatoora integration is due by 1 February 2027. Most small transport and equipment-hire businesses in Saudi Arabia are now in scope.

Salik applies 5% VAT: peak crossing now AED 6.30, off-peak AED 4.20

Salik began applying 5% VAT to toll tariffs on 1 June 2026: a peak crossing is AED 6.30 and off-peak AED 4.20; tag activation moved from AED 100 to 105 (AED 120 to 126 online). Trip-cost models that still carry AED 6/4 per gate understate toll spend.

Darb grows from 4 to 6 toll gates; Ghantoot and Al Qurm charge around the clock

Two new Darb gates opened on 4 May 2026: Ghantoot on the E11 and Al Qurm on Sheikh Zayed Street, both charging AED 4 per crossing 24/7, unlike the four original bridge gates that charge during peak windows (reported by property and motoring media; confirm current windows on the ITC’s Darb portal). Routes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi now carry a toll every trip.

Asateel approved OBU supplier list refreshed: 29 suppliers, LTE-class devices only

The official Asateel approved OBU supplier list carries a 21 April 2026 status date and names 29 suppliers. The approved device models are 4G/LTE-class across the board, which is the practical end of 2G units on the mandate. Buying outside the list leaves permits unobtainable.
