What is SecurePath?
SecurePath is Dubai’s regulated-vehicle tracking programme, operated by the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), which describes it on its official service page as "a real-time, web-based GPS tracking and fleet management solution" (sira.gov.ae, checked August 2026). The page lists 18 eligible vehicle and cargo categories, including rental cars, cash-in-transit, chemical materials, hazardous cargo and environmental waste.
Scope follows the cargo, not the truck: a construction vehicle enters SecurePath’s territory when what it carries is one of the 18 categories, so check your actual cargo types against SIRA’s published list before assuming either way.
How much does SecurePath cost?
SIRA publishes the prices, which is rare among GCC regulators. From its SecurePath service page (sira.gov.ae, checked August 2026): Basic costs AED 240 per licence per year including SIM and data, minimum 50 licences (AED 12,000); Premium costs AED 290 per licence per year, minimum 25 licences (AED 7,250); a device approval certificate costs AED 120. The operational portal is securepath.ae.
Which tier applies to which fleet is vendor-reported rather than SIRA-published: providers describe Basic as the rent-a-car tier and Premium as the tier for goods, cargo and hazardous or high-value transport (permits.ae, checked August 2026).
Is the federal truck-tracking system the same as SecurePath?
No. The National System for Tracking Trucks and Shipments is a separate federal layer run by the National Centre under the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), enforced from 31 October 2023, and it applies on nationwide terms regardless of emirate (Gulf News, June 2023).
Its fine ladder, as reported by Gulf News (June 2023): AED 1,000 for non-registration in the first month, rising AED 100 per month to a cap of AED 5,000; AED 500 per month (capped at AED 2,500) for renewal more than 60 days late or data updates more than 30 days late; AED 5,000-10,000 for false registration data; AED 1,000-5,000 for device tampering; AED 500-2,000 for unauthorized route or driver changes; and AED 5,000-10,000 for unauthorized loading or unloading. Which certificates matter at Dubai renewal time?
Two papers get conflated. The certificate of installation is issued after an approved-provider install and, per vendor reports, is used in RTA registration and Mulkiya renewal (permits.ae, checked August 2026). The device approval certificate is SIRA’s own AED 120 approval of the device model itself (sira.gov.ae, checked August 2026); same market, different paper.
