Darb

Darb is Abu Dhabi’s road toll system, administered by Abu Dhabi Mobility. Vehicles passing a Darb toll gate are charged AED 4 per crossing during toll hours; outside those hours, on Sundays and on official public holidays, crossings are free (admobility.gov.ae).

When does Darb charge, and what changed in 2025?

Toll hours run Monday to Saturday, 7:00-9:00 am and 3:00-7:00 pm; the evening window was widened to 3:00-7:00 pm from 1 September 2025. The bigger change for cost models came the same day: the daily and monthly toll caps for private vehicles, formerly AED 16 per day and AED 200, AED 150 and AED 100 per month for the first, second and third vehicle, were removed (Abu Dhabi Mobility, 2025).

With the caps gone, toll cost scales linearly with route choice: every crossing is billable, and a route that repeatedly crosses a gate in toll hours costs exactly that many AED 4 charges.
